ZERO. Office building of the future

With its "smart-tech" approach, the ZERO. relies on sophisticated building technology for particularly efficient building operation.

A five-storey office building with a gross floor area of around 14,000 m² is being built on the former Hansa site in Stuttgart-Möhringen with ZERO. - a flagship project as part of the International Building Exhibition IBA'27. The special feature: 286 prefabricated room modules made of certified solid wood are produced under controlled conditions and assembled on site to form a sustainable overall building. The modular construction method not only reduces construction time, but also significantly reduces waste and noise on site.

Sustainability and smart technology

The project pursues a holistic ecological concept:

  • Energy efficiency: A 400 m³ ice storage tank in combination with heat pumps and a large-scale photovoltaic system ensures an almost climate-neutral supply.
  • Passive ventilation: Natural ventilation flaps are used instead of energy-intensive ventilation technology.
  • Green roof areas: These promote biodiversity and support sustainable rainwater retention.

SIHGA® - technology that connects

The realization of such a sophisticated timber module construction requires sophisticated connection technology and safe handling - this is where the products from SIHGA® come into play:

Pick Max® : The 286 prefabricated wooden modules were safely and efficiently assembled using the Pick Max®  lifted on the construction site. Our lifting system was specially developed for timber construction and guarantees maximum safety and speed when moving the modules.

The use of these innovative solutions ensured a smooth and efficient construction process - with maximum precision and material conservation.

Conclusion

The ZERO. project impressively demonstrates what is possible in modern timber construction: modular, sustainable, efficient - and architecturally sophisticated. SIHGA® is proud to be part of this pioneering project with its high-quality products.
