The SOS Children's Village Altmünster broke ground for a large-scale village renewal. In two construction phases by 2024, residential buildings for children and young people and important buildings for therapy, training and administration are to be built. SIHGA was invited to the groundbreaking ceremony as part of our annual house sponsorship.
SOS Children's Villages is an international child and youth protection organization that gives children and young people in need a new, stable home and is also committed to education, personal development and social learning for children and young people. The SIHGA family supports this valuable organization with an annual sponsorship of €10,000 for the SOS Children's Village in Altmünster. The children also actively spend time with the SIHGA team in the course of several corporate volunteering projects.
The houses in the SOS Children's Village Altmünster no longer meet the current educational and ecological standards and will be replaced step by step over the next few years by energy-saving residential buildings made of solid wood.
The entire new building is planned by companies from the region with sustainable building materials. The room climate should have a calming effect on residents and be flexible for use by many generations. Energy and heat supply is secured by photovoltaics and pellet heating and a natural design with lots of wood, green roofs, wild bee meadow and old trees ensures a child-friendly and car-free village area.
The renovation of the SOS Children's Village Altmünster is the largest construction project by SOS Children's Villages in Austria in the coming years.
